Germany's Envoy Highlights Crucial Transition to Civilian Rule in Bangladesh
Germany's envoy to India, Philipp Ackermann, expresses his hopes for a peaceful transition to a civilian government in Bangladesh. He lauds the appointment of Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus as interim head following widespread protests and violence after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation.

Philipp Ackermann, Germany's envoy to India, confirmed on Thursday that his country has been monitoring the situation in Bangladesh closely. He expressed hopes for a swift and peaceful transition to a civilian government in Dhaka.
During an interview with PTI at the German embassy, Ackermann praised the appointment of Muhammad Yunus as the interim head of government. Yunus, 84, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, was appointed following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation amid widespread protests.
Following Hasina's departure, violent clashes erupted, with over 500 casualties, including police personnel. Yunus pledged to restore safety and stability, referring to the current political shift as Bangladesh's 'second independence.'
