Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has accused previous state governments of intentionally weakening law enforcement by disbanding the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), thus allowing rioters to operate freely.

During a press conference, Adityanath highlighted significant improvements in police response times under his leadership. He noted that the average response time to distress calls decreased from 25 minutes and 42 seconds in 2017 to just seven minutes and 24 seconds today. Adityanath attributed this efficiency to large-scale recruitment efforts, addressing over 1.5 lakh vacancies in the police force, with 60,200 new officers set to complete training soon.

Adityanath pointed to events like the Maha Kumbh, which drew over 66 crore devotees without any reported crimes, as evidence of effective law enforcement under his administration. He emphasized these policing reforms have led to dramatic improvements in law and order, restoring public and judicial trust in the state's governance.
