The Delhi High Court on Wednesday took a significant step in the Parliament security breach case by issuing a notice to the Delhi police, seeking their response to the bail plea of Manoranjan D, an accused in the high-profile case. Manoranjan has remained in custody since December 14, 2023, alongside others allegedly involved.

The division bench, led by Justices Chandra Dhari Singh and Anup Jairam Bhambhani, announced the notice issuance and scheduled the case for a hearing in July 2025. This development follows the dismissal of Manoranjan's previous bail plea by the trial court in December 2024. He faces charges under various sections of the IPC and UAPA.

Senior advocate K K Manan represents Manoranjan, with the petition being filed by advocates Uditi Bali and Rahul Gautam. They argue that his extended custody violates fundamental rights, with the trial still at the document scrutiny stage. The plea challenges the applicability of UAPA, suggesting the incident was a protest rather than a 'Terrorist Act.'
