In a bid to address financial constraints faced by Arunachal Pradesh, Urban Affairs Minister Balo Raja sought the intervention of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday. Raja highlighted the state's exclusion from international financial aid owing to alleged claims by China.
Accompanied by Itanagar's Mayor Tame Phassang, Raja informed that apart from Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, other states receive loans from international institutions like the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank. The minister emphasized Arunachal's dependence on central aid due to these disruptions.
Sitharaman assured Raja of unwavering central support for the state's development. The meeting also delved into the need for pending grants for local bodies and their role in completing urban projects.
