In a significant move to bolster Chennai's groundwater levels, the Tamil Nadu government is set to implement rainwater harvesting structures across parks and public venues. The announcement came from K N Nehru, the state Municipal Administration Minister, with an earmarked budget of Rs 52 crore for these initiatives.

The government also plans extensive restoration projects for lakes and ponds, with a projected expenditure of Rs 120 crore. These efforts aim to boost water bodies' capacities and prevent future flooding issues in the region.
