Congress leaders Rama Chandra Kadam and Ashok Das fell ill during a protest outside the Odisha Assembly building on Saturday. Following their collapse, they were promptly taken to Capital Hospital.
The protest began when Kadam and Das were denied entry into the Assembly premises by security, despite being aware of their suspension. Annoyed by the restrictions, they staged their protest near the Mahatma Gandhi statue.
Their demonstration lasted for three hours under the harsh sun, leading to dehydration. As the symptoms worsened, they received medical attention and were later transferred to the hospital. Their suspension, along with 12 other Congress MLAs, was due to 'indiscipline' during Assembly sessions in March, linked to controversies over crime investigations.
