The Young Mizo Association (YMA) has called on the central government to compensate the families of victims killed in a recent confrontation with security forces in Manipur's Jiribam district.
The incident saw 10 suspected militants killed after an armed assault on the Borobekra police station and a nearby CRPF camp. The YMA condemned these killings, including that of a 31-year-old woman by 'Meitei miscreants' and 10 'village volunteers' from Hmar-Mizo tribes by security forces.
Meanwhile, allegations of misconduct against CRPF personnel surfaced, with claims that a Hmar woman was brutally attacked before being killed. Political bodies in Mizoram criticized these acts and pushed for neutrality among security forces, while post-mortem examinations of some victims were conducted in Assam, pending further autopsies.
