Rajesh Kumar Singh, a senior bureaucrat from the 1989 IAS batch, has taken over as the new Defence Secretary of India. Singh, from the Kerala cadre, assumed his role in the South Block, where the Ministry of Defence is located.
Prior to assuming office, Singh honored fallen heroes at the National War Memorial, expressing a commitment to their legacy. 'The nation will forever remain indebted to our brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice,' Singh remarked, emphasizing the importance of safety and prosperity for the country.
In his career, Singh served as Secretary for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade and held significant roles in animal husbandry, urban development, and more. He replaces Giridhar Aramane, who recently retired from the position.
