Crackdown in Jharkhand: Police Nab Two in Drug Bust

Police in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharswan district arrested a teenager and a woman for possessing brown sugar valued at Rs 22.68 lakh. Acting on a tip-off, the Adityapur police team confiscated 113.44 grams of the drug and Rs 1.50 lakh in cash. Fourteen peddlers have been arrested recently.

Two individuals, including a teenager, were apprehended by police in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharswan district over allegations of drug possession on Thursday. The arrest was made following a raid led by Inspector Rajiv Kumar Singh.

During the operation at H-Road, authorities seized 113.44 grams of brown sugar—valued at Rs 22.68 lakh—and Rs 1.50 lakh in cash. The suspects were detained in Adityapur industrial township, part of widespread efforts targeting drug and criminal activities.

In a statement, Superintendent Mukesh Kumar Lunayat confirmed these arrests were part of a larger crackdown, with 14 peddlers taken into custody over the past two months, under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
