In a dramatic early morning operation, the Delhi Police on Thursday captured two alleged snatchers from the Khyala area after a high-speed bike chase, shooting each in the leg, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer.
The suspects, identified as Vikas and Ramesh, had engaged in multiple robberies across the West district in recent days, predominantly snatching gold ornaments from victims during early morning or late-night hours while brandishing a dagger.
The duo was tracked down by police special teams, which had deployed spotters and officers in plain clothes. The chase culminated around 8:30 am when police intercepted the suspect's bike in Punjabi Bagh. The suspects opened fire, prompting police to retaliate in self-defense, resulting in their capture. Confiscated items include firearms, a dagger, and a stolen bike. Both suspects have prior criminal records.
