Police on Thursday claimed to have dismantled a significant Maoist supply network with the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of explosive materials. The operation took place at Devi Chowk in Patnampara, based on intelligence inputs, according to Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan.

The arrested individuals were identified as 28-year-old Mantosh Mandal from Chintalnar in Sukma district and S Nagarjuna from East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh. They were found in possession of two boxes of potassium nitrate, two kilograms of urea powder, three boxes of aluminum powder, one tiffin bomb, two detonators, Maoist literature, a laptop, a mobile SIM card, and a mobile phone.

During their interrogation, the duo admitted to supplying explosive materials, chemicals, and other items to the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) battalion no. 1 since 2020. This battalion is known for orchestrating numerous deadly attacks on security forces in the south Bastar region. Their arrest has disrupted a key urban supply network of Maoists, and further investigation is currently underway.
