Tragic Incident: Two Teenagers Gang-Raped in Rourkela
Two teenage girls from Jharkhand were allegedly gang-raped in Rourkela city, Odisha. The incident occurred on Saturday evening when the girls were returning to a relative's house. Two teenage girls from Jharkhand were reportedly gang-raped in Rourkela, Odisha, police revealed on Sunday.
The crime occurred on Saturday evening as the girls, aged 14 and 15, were returning to a relative's home in a slum after a market visit. They were intercepted by young men near Bisra Chhak and forcibly taken to a deserted area where they were assaulted, according to Rourkela (Zone 1) Sub-divisional Police Officer Nirmal Chandra Mohapatra.
'We have registered a case at the Plantsite police station and detained two suspects. Two police teams are actively pursuing the remaining culprits,' Mohapatra stated.
The harrowing incident came to light when one of the survivors confided in relatives, prompting them to file a police complaint on Saturday evening.
