Tata Power-led Odisha Discoms have allocated contracts worth Rs 11,481 crore to local contractors and suppliers, an official stated.

The joint ventures, between Tata Power and the Odisha government, have placed orders amounting to Rs 8,690 crore with local MSMEs and Rs 2,791 crore to non-MSMEs over the past three years. These contracts, categorized into materials and services, have been dispersed to local contractors and suppliers. The Odisha Discoms - TP Central, TP Southern, TP Northern, and TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited, have entered into agreements with 6,645 local vendors and suppliers, the official revealed.

According to a company statement, these partnerships are crucial for daily operations and services, emphasizing the employment of local residents. In the service sector, covering meter reading, billing, and network maintenance, contracts worth Rs 7,560 crore were awarded to 4,347 vendors. In materials supply, including distribution transformers and cables, contracts valued at Rs 3,921 crore were assigned. This initiative is seen as vital for Odisha's economic development and aligns with the Make in Odisha vision, contributing significantly to local economic prosperity.
