Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya visited Ramrai Kutir, the last Indian village along the international border with Bangladesh, on Sunday, according to an official statement from Raj Bhavan.

The governor spent time at the border outpost, interacting with BSF personnel. He commended their dedication to safeguarding the nation's frontier, calling their commitment exemplary.

''The profound commitment with which our jawans are serving the nation and guarding its borders is truly exemplary. They ensure the safety and security of every citizen and maintain the territorial integrity of the nation,'' Acharya stated.

He particularly lauded women personnel for their role in border protection, referring to them as ''incarnations of goddesses.'' Acharya noted that these women serve as an inspiration for the younger generation.

During his visit, the governor also engaged with Ramrai Kutir residents and participated in an interactive session at Satrasal Higher Secondary Vidyapeeth. He emphasized the importance of viewing the village not as the last but as the first village in the country.

Acharya conveyed that villagers would be the first responders in any contingency and stressed his aim to understand and resolve their issues. He assured residents that the government is taking steps to ensure they have access to quality education, healthcare, and proper road connectivity.
