The Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, R R Swain, has lauded the rescue efforts of locals in Budgam where a tragic accident involving a bus carrying BSF personnel occurred. The accident left three dead and 33 injured.

During his visit to the accident site at Brell village, Swain announced cash rewards and commendation medals for the villagers who assisted in the rescue operation. Notably, he emphasized the role of local women in these efforts. He assured that the injured individuals are receiving medical treatment and their condition is stable.

Swain also announced a SPO recruitment drive in the village and highlighted security measures in preparation for the upcoming elections on September 25. He assured that comprehensive security arrangements have been made to ensure a peaceful election environment. Meanwhile, a wreath-laying ceremony was held in honor of the deceased BSF personnel at the BSF Kashmir Frontier headquarters in Humhama.
