Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance on Thursday expressed regret that school shootings have become a 'fact of life,' calling for enhanced security measures to prevent further tragedies. His remarks came during a rally in Phoenix, following a recent incident in Georgia that left four people dead.
'If these psychos are going to go after our kids we've got to be prepared for it,' Vance declared, emphasizing the need to face the grim reality head-on. The Ohio senator noted that stricter gun laws, as often proposed by Democrats, won't eliminate the problem, asserting they occur in states with varying levels of gun restrictions. He championed efforts in Congress to allocate more funding for school security.
Vance also highlighted the vulnerability of schools as 'soft targets' for those seeking notoriety. In comparison, Vice President Kamala Harris recently visited the site of the 2018 Parkland shooting and announced initiatives for states to temporarily seize guns from potentially dangerous individuals, reinforcing her stance on stronger gun control and improved school security.
