The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu is intensifying pressure on the ruling DMK government over a student sexual assault case. The party's women's wing announced a 'justice rally' from Madurai to Chennai to demand justice for the victim.
K Annamalai, the BJP's state president, accused DMK members of being involved in the case and criticized attempts to 'conceal the truth.' Annamalai detailed that the women's wing, led by Mahila Morcha chief Umarathi Rajan, will begin the rally on January 3, traveling 450 kilometers to deliver a memorandum to the Tamil Nadu Governor.
The assault occurred at Anna University, sparking widespread outrage from opposition parties. An arrest has been made, but the DMK denies any links between the accused and their party.
