Security forces intensified their anti-terror operations in the regions of Kishtwar, Udhampur, Poonch, and Rajouri on Saturday. This follows encounters that claimed the lives of two soldiers and two terrorists, officials have confirmed.

A joint operation in the forests of Pingnal Dugadda in Kishtwar's Chhatroo belt entered its second day. Reinforcements have been sent to assist search parties in hunting down the terrorists responsible for killing two Army personnel, including a JCO, and injuring two others during a gunfight the previous day.

The officials stated that a vast area was cordoned off, with security forces employing drones and other modern equipment to seek out the terrorists who fled the encounter scene, utilizing the darkness and dense foliage to their advantage. No fresh contact with the terrorists has been reported so far.

A significant search operation is also ongoing in Udhampur's Basantgarh area, particularly in the upper reaches of Khandara Top, Kudwah, and Raichak, where two terrorists from Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were eliminated on September 11. Concurrently, security forces are also conducting searches in the forest areas of Surankote in Poonch and Nowshera and Thanamandi in Rajouri district.
