Intense Gunfight Erupts in Udhampur's Basantgarh

A gunfight broke out between security forces and terrorists in Basantgarh, Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The confrontation started when army and police units moved to Khandara top after receiving information about terrorist presence. The terrorists opened fire, prompting retaliation and resulting in reinforcements being sent to the area.

An intense gunfight erupted between security forces and terrorists in the upper reaches of Basantgarh, Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, according to official sources.

The confrontation took place when troops from the first para of the Army, accompanied by police, advanced to Khandara top following intelligence reports of a terrorist group in the area.

Hiding terrorists opened fire on the search parties around 12.50 pm, leading to an immediate retaliation from the security forces. Reinforcements have been dispatched to the forested area to neutralize the threat, officials confirmed.
