Two Indian Army personnel, including a junior commissioned officer, lost their lives in a confrontation with terrorists in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, officials confirmed.
The fatal clash occurred when a joint security task force of the Army and police initiated a cordon-and-search operation in the Naidgham area, based on credible intelligence, targeting terrorists in the Chhatroo belt.
The Army confirmed the deaths of Naib Subedar Vipan Kumar and Sepoy Arvind Singh due to injuries sustained in the firefight, and extended condolences to their families. The Congress criticized the government for failing to curb terrorism in the region.
