A young man's friendship with a woman on social media took a dark turn in Noida when she allegedly attempted to kill him after he refused to marry her, authorities reported on Wednesday.

The victim, a 21-year-old BCom student named Dheeraj, was taken to Yatharth Hospital following the incident, which occurred after the woman, Priya, allegedly spiked his drink and involved accomplices to attack him with a sharp weapon.

The local police have filed charges against Priya and her unidentified associates under various sections for attempted murder, as the investigation continues to uncover more details about the crime.
