Polish security services have successfully neutralised a sabotage operation orchestrated by Russia and Belarus aimed at destabilising Poland, Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski announced on Monday.

According to Gawkowski, the saboteurs, operating from Belarus in cooperation with Russia, managed to infiltrate local and central government institutions, including state-owned companies involved in military contracts. Their objective was to extort information, blackmail individuals and institutions, and wage a cyberwar.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the operational goal of stealing data for blackmail purposes had been thwarted. He noted that cyberattacks targeting Polish organizations, especially those involved in logistical support for Ukraine, have doubled since last year. Poland has also implicated Russia in incidents of sabotage and arson and accuses Russian secret services of actively seeking information on weapons deliveries to Ukraine.
