A major train accident was narrowly averted thanks to the keen vigilance of a loco pilot. The Bhiwani-Prayagraj Kalindi Express was halted abruptly after colliding with an LPG cylinder placed on the tracks in Kanpur, police reported Monday. Investigations suggest a possible sabotage attempt, with additional materials like petrol and matchboxes found at the scene.
The incident occurred at 8:20 PM on Sunday, as the train was speeding towards Bhiwani. An FIR has been filed, and agencies including Uttar Pradesh's Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are involved in the probe.
Kanpur police have detained six individuals, including two known criminals, and formed a Special Investigation Team to delve deeper into the case. The team will also examine any similarities with a recent Sabarmati Express derailment in the area. Authorities remain determined to identify and sternly deal with the culprits.
