The derailment occurred at 23:17 local time (2017 GMT on Tuesday), affecting both the locomotive and the wagons. The South-Eastern Railway communicated the information via Telegram, stating that emergency crews have been dispatched and a detour organized for passenger trains. However, specific details about the cause of the derailment were not immediately provided.
Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of Belgorod, also reported the incident on Telegram. The region has experienced almost daily blasts and attacks recently, with officials attributing them to Ukrainian forces or pro-Ukrainian saboteurs.
