In response to the public outcry demanding justice for a deceased woman doctor, West Bengal Governor Dr. CV Ananda Bose on Sunday ordered Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to convene an urgent Cabinet meeting to discuss the matter, according to a Raj Bhavan spokesperson.

Bose emphasized that the state government must make a decision on the public's calls to replace Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal.

The source told PTI that the Governor instructed the Chief Minister to address the public's demands and maintained that the government cannot evade responsibility or stay silent on these alarming developments. The body of a trainee doctor, raped and murdered while on duty, was discovered in the seminar room of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9, prompting widespread protests across West Bengal.
