A harrowing incident unfolded as police arrested a helper of a private ambulance for sexually assaulting a woman while transporting her terminally ill husband. The husband tragically died after his oxygen support was disconnected during the assault.
''The accused helper of the ambulance, Rishabh, has been arrested. Our teams are trying to arrest the accused driver,'' stated Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), Lucknow, Jitendra Kumar Dubey on Thursday. The woman's husband had been undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Lucknow.
Due to financial constraints, she opted to discharge her husband and transport him home in a private ambulance. On the evening of August 29, the driver and helper allegedly harassed her. When she resisted, they stopped the vehicle, forced her, her brother, and her husband out approximately 150 kilometers from their destination.
The woman reached out to local police, who then arranged another ambulance to take her husband to Gorakhpur Medical College. He was pronounced dead upon arrival. She subsequently returned to Lucknow to file a police complaint.
