Historic Derby: Mohun Bagan and East Bengal to Battle in Lucknow for First Time

Lucknow will make history on September 2, 2024, as it hosts the legendary clash between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal FC for the first time. This iconic fixture, part of the 'Derby of the East' series, will take place at the KD Singh Babu Stadium and is set to kick off at 6.30 pm.
Organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) alongside the Government of Uttar Pradesh, the Uttar Pradesh Football Sangh, and Krida Bharti, the match aims to promote football across the state. As part of this initiative, 96,455 footballs will be distributed in 75 districts through Navodaya Vidyalaya, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
Both teams are taking the game seriously despite its promotional nature. Mohun Bagan coach Deggie Cardoza emphasized the importance of the Derby, expressing confidence in his team's preparations. East Bengal coach Bino George echoed this sentiment, highlighting the emotional connection fans have with this historic rivalry, and praised AIFF's efforts to boost football in Uttar Pradesh.
