Union Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, launched the VisioNxt Fashion Forecasting Initiative of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) today, introducing a bilingual web portal and India-specific Fashion Trend Book titled Paridhi 24x25. The event was also attended by Union Minister of State for Textiles and External Affairs, Shri Pabitra Margherita, and Textiles Secretary, Smt. Rachna Shah.

Shri Giriraj Singh highlighted that VisioNxt reflects India's shift towards prioritizing indigenous design and manufacturing since 2014 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The initiative leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Emotional Intelligence (EI) to offer trend insights that will enhance India's competitive edge globally while elevating Indian culture and design.

The idea for VisioNxt emerged following the 2017 Global Textile Summit, where Prime Minister Modi emphasized the need for real-time, India-specific trend insights. Launched at NIFT’s Creative Lab in Delhi and Insights Lab in Chennai, the initiative centralizes its efforts in Chennai, delivering AI-driven forecasts and offering academic programs, workshops, and consultancy services related to trend prediction.

The VisioNxt project stands out as India’s first AI-EI fashion forecasting platform, blending technology and cultural insights. It taps into a deep learning model, DeepVision, which decodes fashion patterns, identifying over 60 Indian wear and 40 Western wear categories. By analyzing data from more than 70,000 primary apparel images and 280,000 secondary images, VisioNxt provides precise trend reports on apparel styles, colors, and regional nuances.

Through this initiative, India positions itself as a leader in fashion forecasting, reducing reliance on international agencies and expanding the visibility of its diverse fashion vocabulary globally. The VisioNxt platform, available in Hindi and English, empowers local designers, weavers, and retailers to create collections aligned with India’s evolving fashion trends.
