The criminal trial of Singapore's former transport minister S Iswaran, initially set to begin on September 10, has been postponed to September 24, according to the Attorney-General's Chambers on Thursday.
A spokesperson for the Attorney-General's Chambers indicated that the court agreed to an adjournment following a joint request from both prosecution and defense.
'Because it was a joint request, the court acceded to it,' the spokesperson confirmed.
The delay follows a Court of Appeal decision on Tuesday, which dismissed Iswaran's third attempt to compel the prosecution to release all statements from its intended witnesses.
At 62, the former minister is contending with 35 charges, including 32 counts of obtaining valuables as a public servant, two counts of corruption, and one count of obstructing justice.
Previously, Iswaran had succeeded in having these charges consolidated into a single trial.
