The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case, but not without significant observations on his arrest. BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari responded, emphasizing that the court upheld the legality of Kejriwal's arrest.

In a pointed statement, Bhandari remarked that Kejriwal has been treated akin to a 'hardcore criminal.' He noted, 'The Supreme Court has observed that Kejriwal cannot visit his office or residence and cannot perform any ministerial duties. These conditions reflect a stern view similar to those applied to hardened criminals.'

Bhandari further argued that the corruption allegations against the Aam Aadmi Party have only intensified over the past two years, with several senior leaders jailed. He claimed that the party's credibility is waning rapidly and predicted that Delhi residents would soon reject the AAP government. Bhandari concluded by highlighting that Kejriwal's bail conditions underscore the seriousness of the corruption charges.

Despite the bail, the court stressed that 'prolonged incarceration amounts to unjust deprivation of liberty.' Kejriwal's arrest was linked to the alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy 2021-22, beginning with his detention by the Enforcement Directorate and later by the CBI.
