In a significant encounter, six cadres of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) were killed following a fierce exchange of gunfire with police in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Telangana. Among the deceased were two women.

The confrontation also resulted in injuries to two commandos from the elite Greyhounds anti-naxal force. The injured personnel were promptly shifted to a hospital where their condition has been stabilized.

The gunfight erupted early morning at around 6:45 am in the forests near Mothe village. As the Maoist cadres opened fire on the patrolling police team, the latter responded in self-defense. Post the encounter, police recovered an assortment of weaponry, including AK-47s, an SLR, a .303 rifle, and other materials, and discovered six bodies dressed in olive green attire.
