A significant fire erupted at the Times Tower building in Mumbai's Kamala Mills compound early Friday morning, but was successfully contained by firefighters after more than five hours, according to civic officials.
No injuries were reported in the incident, which started around 6.30 am and was extinguished by approximately 11.55 am. The fire was confined to an electric duct spanning from the 3rd to the 7th floors of the 14-storey building.
Eight fire engines and additional firefighting vehicles were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters had to use chisels and hammers to break into the building to combat the blaze effectively. Residents of the nearby Parkside building described the event as a 'terrifying experience,' noting their security staff's initial attempts to control the fire before firefighters arrived.
