Teachers Arrested for Assaulting Student Over Torn Textbook

In a disturbing development, two female primary school teachers from North Goa were arrested on Thursday for allegedly assaulting a nine-year-old student. The incident occurred earlier this week after the student reportedly tore a page from his textbook.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Sandesh Chodankar, the teachers, identified as Sujal Gawade and Kanishka Gadekar, were apprehended following a complaint lodged by the child's parents at the Colvale police station. The student, a Class 4 pupil at Shree Saraswati Vidya Mandir Primary School, Vagali-Camurlim, sustained injuries to his thighs, legs, and back, necessitating hospitalization.
The educators have been booked under section 82 of the Juvenile Justice Act and section 8 (1) of the Goa Children's Act. This case highlights ongoing concerns about child safety and disciplinary measures in educational institutions.
