Six Maoist Cadres Killed in Telangana Encounter

Six members of the banned CPI (Maoist) insurgent group, including two women, were fatally shot in an encounter with police in Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana, officials said on Thursday.
The exchange of fire also resulted in injuries to two commandos from the Greyhounds, Telangana's elite anti-naxal force. They were subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment, according to police sources.
The encounter occurred in a forested area under the jurisdiction of Karakagudem police station. Senior police officials informed PTI that the incident unfolded based on intelligence suggesting Maoist movement from neighboring Chhattisgarh. The bodies of the six Maoists, including a senior cadre, have been recovered, and their identities are being verified. Authorities seized six firearms from the location, including AK47s and SLRs. An ongoing investigation is in progress.
