Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova termed the U.S. move a 'witch hunt' and suggested it aimed to scare the U.S. population. Moscow is preparing to target U.S. media outlets in retaliation for actions taken against Russian state broadcaster RT, according to Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
On Wednesday, the U.S. Justice Department charged two RT employees with money laundering, alleging their involvement in a scheme to influence the upcoming presidential election.
Zakharova denounced the U.S. actions as a 'witch hunt' designed to intimidate the American public and indicated that Moscow's response could either mirror Washington's measures or take another form.
