A 28-year-old man was run over by a school bus while he was crossing the road in south west Delhi's Vasant Kunj south, police said on Wednesday. The victim, Manoj Kumar, was wearing earphones when the incident occurred near Mahipalpur flyover on Tuesday afternoon.

The bus driver, identified as 42-year-old Jasbir Dahiya, was detained at the scene by an eyewitness and handed over to the police, a police officer mentioned.

Manoj Kumar, who lived in Delhi's Rangpuri and worked at IGI Airport as a security guard, is survived by his wife and two children who reside in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, Manoj was returning home from work when he was hit by the bus carrying children from a school in Dwarka Sector-23. Initial investigations suggest that Kumar's earphones might have prevented him from noticing the bus.

He died on the spot, police said. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and the police have informed his family. The bus driver has been booked under relevant sections of the law, and further investigation is ongoing.
