Police Crack Down on Counterfeit Currency Racket in Navi Mumbai
Two individuals, one unidentified, were found possessing about 200 counterfeit Rs 500 currency notes in Navi Mumbai. An FIR has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The notes were dumped by an unidentified man and later collected by Hemant Mhatre, who was apprehended by police.

Authorities have filed an FIR against two individuals, including one unidentified person, for allegedly possessing approximately 200 counterfeit Rs 500 currency notes in Navi Mumbai, an official confirmed on Wednesday.
On August 9, an unidentified individual disposed of 194 counterfeit Rs 500 notes (with a total face value of Rs 97,000) near a bridge in Uran town, according to the official.
Hemant Mhatre, a 48-year-old resident of the Koproli area in Uran, collected the counterfeit notes from the site and was detained by police on August 12.
Following verification that the notes were counterfeit, police registered an FIR on Tuesday against Mhatre and the unidentified individual under sections 178, 179, and 180 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the official stated.
