Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday mandated a thorough probe into the alleged murder of a farmer in Singrauli district.
The opposition Congress, on Monday, asserts that the tribal man was barbarically mowed down by a tractor when he resisted the sand mafia. ''There is a rule of law in the state. The murder of a farmer in Singrauli district is a grave matter,'' Yadav expressed in a statement, voicing sorrow over the incident.
Yadav has also instructed in-charge minister Sampatiya Uikey to visit the site for gathering information and to console the grieving family.
This Sunday night incident has precipitated a heated exchange between Congress and the ruling BJP, spotlighting alleged tribulations against tribals and the unrestrained power wielded by the sand mafia.
State Congress chief Jitu Patwari, in a post on X, commented, ''Another shocking instance of unchecked tribal oppression has emerged in Madhya Pradesh's Singrauli. Sand mafia mercilessly ran over poor tribal Indrapal Agariya of Gannai village due to his resistance against them devastating his crop.'' Patwari further alleged that the culprits were linked to the BJP.
