A man was fatally shot by two gunmen on motorcycles in New Town, on Kolkata's eastern fringes, police confirmed Sunday.
The shooting happened Saturday night at a tea stall near Ram Mandir. Eyewitnesses reported two assailants arrived and fired at the victim, who was later declared dead at the Bidhannagar Subdivisional Hospital. 'One suspect has been apprehended. Initial investigations suggest a business rivalry as the motive,' an officer stated.
The deceased remains unidentified, though locals believe he was involved in coal and brick trading. West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar criticized the state's law and order, questioning its safety on social media platform X.
