Police on Saturday cracked down on a sex racket disguised as spa centres, leading to the arrest of 20 individuals, including a Ugandan woman, according to a statement from the police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Deepak Bhukar revealed that the joint operation by Civil Lines and Mahila Thana police took place late Friday night following a tip-off. The targeted establishments, located at P-Square Mall near the Civil Lines bus stand, included Junction Spa Centre, New Green Spa Centre, Paradise Spa Centre, and Waves Spa Centre.

Bhukar stated that during the raid, several women and men were found in compromising situations. In total, thirteen women and seven men were arrested, with incriminating items such as sex-stimulating medicines, 20 mobile phones, and Rs 8,400 in cash recovered from the scene. A case has been filed at the Civil Lines police station under various sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, and authorities are currently verifying the passport and visa details of the Ugandan woman.
