Assam Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) conducted a joint search operation in Dibrugarh on Thursday, recovering two grenades. The discovery is perceived as a significant step in preventing a potential act of violence in Upper Assam.

Assam Director General of Police GP Singh announced on platform X that the plan for violence in Upper Assam had been foiled with the recovery of the grenades. According to police sources, a reliable tip-off led to the operation, involving a police team led by Additional SP (HQ) and personnel from the 171st Battalion of the CRPF. The search commenced around 2:00 AM near Jyotioni Gaon, Khatkhati, under the Moran Police Station's jurisdiction.

The operation resulted in discovering two green bottle grenades hidden beneath a large Pipal tree. The grenades were confiscated in the presence of witnesses, and necessary legal procedures are being followed, authorities reported.
