Reforms in labour laws, promoting female workforce participation, and enhancing social security and labour welfare are set to spur inclusive growth in India, a senior government official stated on Thursday.

Sumita Dawra, Secretary for the Ministry of Labour & Employment, made the remarks during an industry interaction organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Employers' Federation of India (EFI) in Bengaluru. Dawra highlighted the Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business reforms introduced by the Ministry, emphasizing their role in driving inclusive growth.

Addressing the gathering of 200 industry members, Dawra noted the improving employment trends evidenced by PLFS and KLEMS data, as well as an increase in EPFO net subscribers, which have risen by over 6 crore since September 2017. She pointed out that ELI Schemes announced in the 2024-25 budget aim to enhance job creation, job quality, and formalization of the labour market in the non-farm sectors of services, construction, trade, and manufacturing.
