Dravidian stalwart and founder of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), the late CN Annadurai was commemorated on his 116th birth anniversary. Chief Minister M K Stalin, among other prominent figures, paid rich tributes to the leader.
Annadurai, fondly known as Anna, ushered in the first non-Congress government in Tamil Nadu in 1967 when the DMK swept the elections. His legacy continues to influence the state's politics and social landscape.
Chief Minister Stalin honored Annadurai with floral tributes at the DMK headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, and unveiled the party's emblem as part of the DMK's 75th year celebrations. On social media platform 'X,' Stalin highlighted the many social changes brought about by the DMK under Annadurai's guidance.
AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami also paid tribute to Annadurai at a statue on Anna Salai, acknowledging his role in shaping Tamil Nadu's unique identity through a social media post.
