Greece's foreign minister, George Gerapetritis, announced on Thursday that he had contacted his Saudi counterpart as part of a concerted effort to prevent an ecological disaster from a stranded Greek-flagged oil tanker in the Red Sea, which was attacked by Houthi militants last week.
Arriving at an informal EU foreign ministers meeting in Brussels, Gerapetritis highlighted the significant diplomatic efforts underway among multiple countries, including Greece, to avert a potential environmental crisis.
