The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has pressed charges against Vinod Mishra, a prominent Naxal leader, accusing him of being part of a conspiracy to revive the banned CPI (Maoist) group in Bihar's Magadh region.

Mishra is closely associated with Pramod Mishra, a key member of CPI (Maoist)'s polit bureau and chief of the north regional bureau. The chargesheet, filed before a special NIA court, accuses him of providing shelter and logistical support to the group's leaders for meetings aimed at reviving the proscribed organization.

Mishra's arrest follows the apprehension of two other top CPI (Maoist) leaders in August 2023, from whom a range of Naxal literature and memory cards were seized. The NIA has been investigating this case since October last year and filed chargesheets against other accused, including Pramod Mishra and Anil Yadav, earlier this year. The arrested individuals are believed to be promoting anti-India ideology and attempting to recruit new cadres to strengthen the banned outfit.
