The Royal Australian Air Force has made its first deployment of combat aircraft to India, marking a significant participation in Exercise 'Tarang Shakti'. This announcement came from Australia's Defence Department, highlighting the event as India's largest multilateral air exercise, held at Air Force Station Jodhpur from August 30 to September 13.

Australia has sent three EA-18G Growler aircraft from No 6 Squadron along with 120 personnel. In a statement, it was noted that this is the first instance of India conducting Exercise Tarang Shakti, involving 11 participating nations and 18 observer nations.

Air Marshal Stephen Chappell, Chief of Air Force, emphasized Australia's commitment to regional partnerships and international cooperation to tackle mutual security challenges. He affirmed that India is a premier security partner for Australia, and through their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, they prioritize practical cooperation that enhances Indo-Pacific stability.

Chappell underscored that the exercise showcases Australia's advanced military capabilities and strengthens interoperability with foreign forces. He mentioned that such international exercises allow aviators to gain experience in rapid response and adaptability to emerging regional threats.

Exercise Tarang Shakti will also foster mutual understanding of tactical operations and strengthen international relationships. Enhanced air defence cooperation between Australia and India has been evident in recent years, with notable engagements like India's participation in Exercise Pitch Black.

The Australian Defence Department also pointed out ongoing training and engagement activities with Indian Navy P-8I Neptune surveillance aircraft. The statement concluded that Australia will continue to support India's pivotal regional role by deepening their defence collaboration.

The first phase of Exercise Tarang Shakti concluded in Tamil Nadu in August, with participation from the air forces of Germany, France, Spain, and the UK.
