The opposition parties in Assam held protests across Guwahati, including the assembly complex, on Tuesday, condemning the government's inability to safeguard women and avert crimes against them.
Led by Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia, Congress MLAs demonstrated within the assembly grounds, holding placards and chanting slogans denouncing the government's alleged inaction. Saikia criticized the Chief Minister's purported indifference and selective targeting of a specific community.
Raijor Dal and AIUDF lawmakers also participated, raising concerns about governmental bias and inefficacy. Protesters voiced their demands for a more effective response to crimes against women, citing recent incidents and ongoing issues of child marriages and community discrimination.
