Russia Strikes Ukraine with Devastating Missile Barrage, Underscoring Ongoing Conflict

Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine, killing four, injuring many, and damaging critical energy infrastructure. Ukrainian President Zelensky condemned the strikes as 'vile'. The attacks disrupted power across several regions, prompting calls for international support. In neighboring Poland, NATO air defenses were activated.

On Monday, Russia unleashed a massive barrage of missiles and drones on Ukraine, resulting in four fatalities, over a dozen injuries, and extensive damage to energy facilities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attacks as 'vile.' This assault, comprising more than 100 missiles and drones, marks Russia's most significant offensive in weeks.

Ukraine's air force reported that the drones, targeting eastern, northern, southern, and central regions, were followed by volleys of cruise and ballistic missiles. Explosions were heard in Kyiv, disrupting power and water supplies. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that 15 regions, more than half of Ukraine, were hit by various types of Russian missiles.

As a result, the state-owned power grid operator implemented emergency power cuts to stabilize the system. In response to the attacks, Ukrainian officials urged their allies to provide long-range weaponry and permission to target launch sites in Russia. Meanwhile, Poland and NATO activated air defenses in the eastern part of the country due to the ongoing conflict.
