The Kremlin responded on Monday to media reports about the death of Reuters safety adviser Ryan Evans in a missile strike on a Ukrainian hotel, asserting that Moscow targets only military infrastructure in Ukraine.

"I'll repeat once again. (Russian) strikes are carried out against military infrastructure objects, and, or against targets related to military infrastructure in one way or another," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on a conference call when asked about the incident.

Evans, a former British soldier working with Reuters since 2022, was killed in the strike along with the injuring of two Reuters journalists. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated the hotel was hit by a Russian Iskander missile, but this has not been independently verified by Reuters.
