Ukrainian Officials Push for Urgent U.S. Support Amid Intensified Missile Strikes
Top Ukrainian officials, including Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, met with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in Washington. They discussed the need for strengthened air defense and expedited weapons deliveries as Russia launched over 400 missiles and drones this week against Ukraine.
High-ranking Ukrainian officials, including Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, commenced a crucial visit to Washington, announced the presidential office.
During their first meeting, Yermak and Umerov apprised U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin of the battlefield's dire state. The presidential office reported that Russia had attacked Ukraine with more than 400 different missiles and drones this week. It emphasized Ukraine's urgent need to bolster its air defenses to safeguard citizens and critical infrastructure.
Yermak stressed the importance of the timely delivery of already-announced defense packages. High-level General Staff officials were also present in the delegation, showcasing the significance of this visit.
